With their passages of beauty, adept handling of words and insights into the natural world, many of these poems are bulls eyes. I read them under difficult circumstances and they entranced and comforted me.
Gillian Somerville-Large

"Although a first book of poetry, One-Song is mature and accomplished. Frances Astor's clever invention of words and wonderful sensitivity to the land and sea around her have given us a fresh, wise and often witty approach to environmental concerns and human follies.
Naomi Beth Wakan of Haiku
one breath poetry

TO THE BOTTOM

You put me in the babbling brook
you the bubbles, me a bobbing paper boat.

We swirled as you dove deep
through water's walls, catching glints
of fish scales and beetle wings.

Later we joined the rapids
I was devoured,
thunder sucked to the bottom -
kissing mud turned to bedrock.

In my dissolving I became a miracle.

Transformation allowed me join you
as the roaming, swishing
deep blue sea.
