About Eblana Writers

Who we are; What we do

Eblana Writers is a collection of writers from diverse backgrounds who meet with one common purpose: to develop each writer’s skills to produce work to a high standard, appropriate for publication. As a group, we attend literary events around Dublin as well as inviting speakers from all areas of the craft - from writer to publisher - to share their knowledge. We believe the format has been a success with members' work regularly featuring on radio and in international literary awards. Members have published in a variety of genres from poetry to fantasy to non-fiction and we look forward to celebrating the success of all writers who pass through our doors.

Recent speakers have included:

  • Novelist, Lia Mills, Author of Another Alice, Nothing Simple and the autobiographical In Your Face, an account of "one Woman’s Encounter with Cancer, Doctors, Nurses, Machines, Family, Friends, and a Few Enemies"
  • Poet, Eileen Casey - Eileen has launched her new collection Drinking the Colour Blue.
  • Best-selling children's writer Marita Conlon McKenna
  • Editor, Alison Walsh of Gill McMillan
  • Poet, novelist, dramatist Dermot Bolger
  • Novelist, travelwriter, children's writer and screenwriter Carlo Gebler
  • Award-winning children’s writer Siobhan Parkinson

Workshops have been conducted by:

Susan Knight playwright and novelist; Christine Dwyer Hickey, Novelist; Carlo Gebler, as above, and Mia Gallagher, author of the best-selling Hellfire Club.

More recently, our own members have been hosting workshops themselves, never failing to produce inspiration, perspiration and lots of laughter.
